    The Ambition

Leeds Museums and Galleries wanted a partner to help them create exciting digital and eLearning experiences as part of their mission to inspire, educate, entertain and challenge people.

    What we did

We have produced a number of interactive experiences for Leeds Museums and Galleries – each one is lovingly crafted for its target audience and specific venue. From touchscreen to large screen and on the web they all augment the physical museums experience with a digital edge.

    First World War Aviation

As part of their First World War centenary programme Leeds Museums and Galleries commissioned us to create a touch screen interactive to help visitors discover the contribution of pioneering aviators from Leeds and the affect they had on The Great War.

The interactive we created features richly illustrated stories about the aircraft and an aircraft builder where visitors can build and test their own creations.

Since then we’ve been asked to design and build three more exciting interactives. A pair for Leeds Museums’ Abbey House Museum.

    Victorian Street

Abbey House’s Victorian Street is a touch screen interpretation of the shops and businesses that are recreated at the Abbey House Museum. It includes a chemist, ironmonger, grocer and a newsagent amongst others and features interviews with local residents who remember the real shops and businesses from around Leeds.

    Victorian Children's Jobs

The Victorian Jobs interactive we built for Abbey House Museum looks at the type of jobs Victorian children had to do. Users answer a BuzzFeed style set of questions like "Can you ride a bike?" and "Are you afraid of the dark?" then the interactive shows them what job they would have done if they were a child in the Victorian era. Jobs include chimney sweep and gong scourer!

    Temple Newsam Tales

Temple Newsam Tales is an interactive that tells the stories of 15 characters from the mansion house's past in 5 different episodes. Originally played out on Twitter between different accounts the interactive emulates the Twitter feed style but runs automatically through the episodes while also allowing visitors to explore each of the characters accounts. The project has pride of the place on a touch screen display in the main reception at Temple Newsam House.
